The paper outlines the commencement of new two-year campaign intended to promote food safety involving food agricultural practices, food manufacturing practices, HACCP and CODEX. Coconut is one of the important crops under this project aimed at increasing the standard of living, export of coconut products and overall farm incomes. The paper narrates various processed products that could be made by small farmers and provides a number of priority areas for farm level processing. It also explains about marketing of coconut products in both domestic and foreign market saying that many efforts are being directed at adding value to coconut products through new product development/ by-product processing for more specialized high-value niche market products.
