Conversion of coconut biomass into useful energy is dis­ cussed. Examples of commercial biomass energy conversion tech­ nologies such as combustion co-generation, pyrolysis and thermal gasification are cited. Pilot demonstration plant production of coco­ nut-derived fuels which include methanol, coco-diesel and methyl esters are described and experiences in the use of these as alter­ native transport fuels are related.
