When it becomes possible to clone coconuts successfully, in large enough quantities to make them a practical source of improved planting material, there will still be economic and agricultural constraints to their acceptance by the farming community in coconut growing countries. These constraints  will occur because of the special nature of clonal m aterial in contrast to seed material. If potential problems are discussed now, and answers suggested , it may be possible avoid the sort of difficulties  that were encountered after hybrids became commercially available fifteen years ago.
