In Thailand two high yielding coconut hybrids have been released to the farmers recently. These two hybrids showed some of their superior characteristics compared with indigenous Tall variety. However yields realized at small farmers farms appears to be lower than that of the yields obtained from the experiments. But the hybrids showed that even in the farmer’s field,  early  flowering character  of hybrid varieties  have persisted . There still prevail some technical and economic constraints faced by smallfarmers in adoption of new hybrid  varieties . Therefore , high yielding  varieties produced, should meet the requirements of the farmers. To achieve the objective in promoting and adopting high yielding varieties , appropriate  intercropping system should also be taken into account.
