Designing conmunication strategies for coconut based farming systems entails knowledge about the basic elements of the communication process as they relate to the transfer of coconut technology. Knowledge about the sources of coconut information, the kinds of information disseminated, the channels used in information dissemination, the characteristics of the coconut farmers and the intended outcomes of the coconut information dissemination are crucial factors to be considered in designing such strategies. Suggested coramuni cation strategies that may be utilized for the effective di ssemi nati on of coconut- based farming systems include the use of radio, printed materi als, personal source and their combinations. A multi-media combination  mass media and interpersonal communication  appears to be a more effective communication strategy than using one medium alone.
