Coconut Intercropping/Rotational Grazing Models In The South Pacific

Intercropping older coconut is a traditional practice in the South Pacific. The system is based on some rotational pattern, where the land under coconut is continuously intercropped for 2 or 3 years and the land is fallowed for at least 3 years. This practice is limited in scope in that during the fallow period, the land is not cultivated thus allowing weeds to effect coconut production i f proper husbandry i s not adopted. However if limited intergrazing is adopted during the fallow periods the land under coconut could be more productively used so that its productivity is increased. The aim of this paper is to describe a simple model of coconut based system based on rotational intercropping/intergrazing practice
