An International Advisory Committee and Scientific Committee have been set up to closely link with the Organizing Committee.

Coconut oil is one of the world’s oldest oils, if not the oldest. People from countries where the coconut palms are grown have made use of it to cure all kinds of ailments for thousands of years. The conference will explore in particular the Health and Nutraceutical benefits of coconut and related issues.

From the first International Conference of Coconut Oil on 17-20 March 2015, Bangkok, Thailand it was recommended to promote the health attributes of coconut products through an aggressive awareness campaign and through joint R&D efforts in the conduct of clinical trials. Technical assistance on coconut processing technologies, good manufacturing practice (GMP), promotion of quality standards and access to markets should therefore be provided to ensure the viability and sustainability of valued-added processing ventures in coconut communities. Greater awareness of the beneficial qualities of coconut products should increase domestic and export demand. However, there still remain many misinformed and distorted views held about coconut oil and its medium chain fatty acid benefits, for health, nutritional and cosmetic benefits. This First ICCO was planned to firmly address these issues and promote coconut oil and coconut products on the world stage and look at the way forward to expand the beneficial effects to man, known since time immemorial.

The Goal of the 2ndICCO conferencewill further technically/scientifically elaborate on many of the production methods, quality, safety use and marketing of coconut oil with emphasis on health and nutraceuticalbenefits in the world market to the benefit of mankind. The increased use of these products for such purposes will contribute in a major way to improving the livelihoods of coconut producers through better incomes and commercial value-added opportunities.

To promote and encourage agriculturists, growers, and other interested persons to  further develop and improve the production of high quality coconuts for high quality coconut oil production and value-added products in order to gain greater acceptance and increase demand in the domestic and international markets.

Conference Topics will include:

  • Present Status of Global Coconut Oil Production and Usage
  • Keynote and Invited papers on Health, Beauty and Nutraceutical benefits of coconut oil, coconut oil diversification and value chains, production methods, quality and safety standards for coconut oil and products.
  • Country Reports on Coconut Oil Production and Trade in Asian and Pacific Island Countries including India, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Samoa, Fiji and Vanuatu plus a summary of reports from other countries.
